I am Eleftheria Κonstantara and Lemnos Wine Trails is actually an idea I had concerning showcasing the wines of Lemnos. This idea began to bud due to my love for Lemnos –where I grew up–, my childhood memories and experiences, my interest in wine and particularly the Greek varieties, as well as the potential of the island’s wines and vineyard, which turns the island of Lemnos into an interesting wine tourism destination.
The idea was further enhanced by several educational viticulture seminars, in the IAS of Greece (Institution of Agricultural Survey), wine tasting seminars and acquisition of the WSET in wines – Level 1, certification by the Wine & Spirits Educational Trust, as well as by travelling to other important viticultural areas in Greece, which feature significant wine tourism infrastructure.
The aim of Lemnos Wine Trails is to introduce the visitor to the wine of Lemnos, by means of a thorough presentation of the viticultural tradition, local varieties and wineries, wine tastings and interesting food pairings, visits to the local wineries, etc. At the same time, we are interested in having the wine intrigue the visitor into discovering other aspects of the island, which make it unique; the variety of local agricultural products it produces in combination with the local gastronomy, the unique scenery of the vineyards and many more beautiful images, the very interesting historical past, as well as the modern cultural reality.
My role in the venture of Lemnos Wine Trails, besides designing the services it provides and carrying them out, is to guide our guests throughout a thorough and enjoyable acquaintance with the wine of Lemnos. I hope my knowledge regarding the vineyard of Lemnos, combined with that of several other domains such as Cultural Management, Communication and Archaeology, contributes to the visitors gaining a comprehensive experience, not to mention an extra nice memory from the island to take home.
